After having read an analysis on the Gujarat Net- Metering Regulations, here is a step-by-step procedure of Net-Metering application for those in Gujarat been waiting for these to kick start their projects. The procedure for application is beautifully outlined here in the Guidelines with set timelines. This finally seems a lot more organized and straightforward framework.

Stage 1- Submitting the Application:

Application for registration with GEDA can be viewed here. The Single Line Diagram, Earthing Diagram and Wiring Diagram would be provided by your Installer.

Application form for DISCOMS will be available on their respective websites. The one uploaded by Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company can be viewed here. The application fee applicable for application submission is as follows. This payable to the respective DISCOM along with the application.

Stage 2: Technical Feasibility Analysis:

Division for TFR will perform feasibility analysis and provide the report to the Head Office which will then issue a letter to the customer approving the net metering connection (as briefed below)

The change of the meter as mentioned above will only take place after an ‘Intimation’ is sent from the customers end about completion of the project following which a list of documents are to be submitted. The meter is changed thereafter along with the signing of the Net-Metering Agreement.

The meter installed is a bi-directional meter in replacement to the existing meter. In addition a Solar Meter is installed which will reflect the generation of the Solar Power System.
